Restless Legs

Back in 2013 I made this video as I explored a lot of locations in the west. It was fun making it. I did it *entirely* by myself - I had to lug a tripod and different lenses with me. It was a challenge setting up the tripod and synchronizing the timing on the digital SLR with my actions - for example I had to go an extra 2 hours out of my way to set up and then retrieve the tripod/camera in one...
Climbing the North Chimney on Long's Peak in winter.

My friend Bill and I attempted The Diamond in March of 2015. This is just a short clip of climbing the North Chimney to reach Broadway, which is just below The Diamond. I was hauling up a 45-lb pack on my back, which made this quite strenuous.

A documentary of the Caribou Man before and after he is mauled by a pack of hungry caribou. Filmed on location in Denali National Park. This is a spoof of the Grizzly Man, just FYI: ua-cam.com/video/uWA7GtDmNFU/v-deo.html

Hey, Charlie. Great adventure! Do you have a GPS track for the descent of Habel Creek?
brought the whole closet i see
Bb,
This video was 4 years ago.. Where are you right now?
This was the most amazing video I have ever seen on youtube. UNREAL! Could you please on day take the time and tell me where these locations are, some are very iconic! I have to know...
Haha, thanks. Yes, much of it was in Zion NP and Grand Canyon NP. Some of the mountain scenes were in the Indian Peaks Wilderness area near Denver, CO. Glad you liked it!
man watching someone search that fruitlessly for tool holds at that amount of exposure is pretty freaky. How did it feel?
Nicely done. We hiked to the headwaters of the Chaba this summer and packrafted back to the highway.
Wtf is the liquid I think it's piss
Ha-ha-ha. Fun ! You guyz are in shape . That "Thumb" is insane .
get some gaitors man jesus
Gaiters would not help😂
Would love to talk with you about how you captured these shots? (camera, lens, editing software, editing technique)
Alpine Loud - I used two cameras at the time, a Canon EOS 5d1 and an EOS 7d. Various lenses but much of it was a 24 mm tilt-shift lens, which gave the "miniaturization" effect. Otherwise, I edited in Adobe After Effects and added some of the out of focus stuff that way. But yes, it was a lot of work!
@@nuttelmc Love the 24 mm tilt shift miniaturization effect! Really communicates the how small you feel in an environment like that.
Thanks, I had the same question. Some of it looked like real tilt shift but some scenes looked edited, had me wondering. In any case great work, keep it up!
I dont think people realize how time consuming it is to make a video like that... Mad props dude! Great edit.
Water or sweat ? i don't think feet can sweat that much lol
Alaska so prob water
Brilliant
That was scary!
Nice videos, Sure had great weather on Robson!
Amazing video... Though maybe strap the GoPro to your chest next time...I got super seasick watching it!
Is that water or puss??
Fucccck...burly...
why would new boots be any different than old ones? New should be better at keeping moisture out...
New boots because either way water gets in from the top (from stepping in knee-high water bogs!) so I got nasty dirt/mud in my brand new boots instead of using old ones!
+Charlie Nuttelman oh interesting. Never been to Alaska. I always imagined it as completely frozen with no flowing water.
Alaska is great! In the summer it's super green, lots of vegetation, and it rains almost daily. But, it's a completely different story in the winter, that's when it's completely frozen with no flowing water :-) You should go there someday, it's an interesting place.
Yeah I'll have to. I went to the Bahamas once on a cruise ship and I hear they go to Alaska. It was good talking to you :)
Nicely done. If you do come back, let me know :).
Hey Charlie, where was it that you biked in with skis, booted up and skied down? That's a pretty cool little trip!
+Kenneth Day Most of the skiing was up either at Skywalker Couloir in the Indian Peaks of Colorado or off of Radiobeacon Peak, near the Moffat Tunnel. Glad you liked it!
Wow! I can't imagine the work put into this. Nicely done.
+Mountain Springs Thanks, yeah it was a lot of work but it was done over a good part of a year, in my free time.
This video deserves a lot more than 350 views, absolutely awesome!
+Bengals1us Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
That is superb, a lot of work gone into this clip, lovely camera work and setup!
+troutboynz Thanks, yes I put a lot of effort into it, didn't really know what I was going to do with it but it was fun!
Great video Charlie!
Very cool buddy!
How often did you watch Grizzly Man?
@Anton - Hey this is Charlie, author of this video. Didn't see your question until now. Yes, go ahead and post on the mountainfriends facebook site if you wish as long as you don't truncate the video, etc. Thanks!
does that truck have a detroit engine in it?
Beauty. I did that one a long time ago too.
I love the Dyno!! -Dan M.
That was another fantastic production of Nuttelman Films. And I'm so glad you know how to spell NUTTELMAN. I get so tired of seeing it in publications misspelled, i.e. Nuttleman. Geez. Glad you got it right!
Good job, Max & Jenny! It was amazing how you got the caribou to act their parts...good job, Charlie!
We miss you Caribou Man. Where ever you are.
The Sheffel's Farm outside of Great Falls.
Whos farm was this taken on? What part of montana?
Which route was that?
Very nicely done. I loved seeing Uncle Max in the truck! Great job!
